- This Cancellation and Refund Policy (“Policy”) governs the relationship between My First Book (“we,” “us,” or “our”) and the users (“you,” “your,” or “participant”) regarding the purchase of products (Books) and services (Contests, Events, and Sponsorships). This policy is drafted in compliance with the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
1. Statutory Right to Refund: In accordance with Indian law, refunds are mandatory and will be processed if the product or service is:
- Defective/Damaged: Received in a physically damaged or non-functional state.
- Deficient: The service (contest/event) was not provided as described.
- Misrepresented: The product or event features significantly differ from the advertisement.
2. Product-Specific Rules (Books)
- Eligibility: Refunds for physical books are only applicable for manufacturing defects (e.g., missing pages, incorrect binding) or if the wrong title was delivered.
- Reporting Window: Issues must be reported within 24 to 48 hours of delivery with supporting evidence (e.g., an unboxing video or photos).
- Condition: Books must be returned in their original condition. Once a seal is broken or a digital access code is redeemed, the item is non-refundable.
3. Service-Specific Rules (Contests & Events)
- Operational Cut-off: Refund requests for contest or event registrations must be made before the final arrangements for the event have been commissioned.
- Non-Refundable Status: Once a contest is scheduled, a heat/slot is allocated, or venue/logistics arrangements are finalized, the fee becomes strictly non-refundable.
- No-Show Policy: Failure to attend or participate in a scheduled event does not entitle the participant to a refund.
4. Sponsorships & Corporate Participations
- B2B Commitment: Sponsorships involve immediate allocation of marketing resources. Once branding, promotional activities, or event arrangements have commenced, sponsorship fees are non-refundable.
- Rescheduling: In the event of a cancellation by the platform, sponsors may be offered a credit for a rescheduled date or a pro-rata refund as per the specific sponsorship contract.
5. Zero Cost Policy Integration: Participants or buyers who do not qualify for a standard refund may still be eligible for our Zero Cost Policy. This allows for "value-for-money" redemptions or refunds provided the user establishes a genuine track of eligibility or completes assigned tasks/milestones as specified in the event guidelines.6. - Processing Time: Approved refunds will be initiated and completed within 7 business days.
- Payment Mode: As per RBI guidelines, refunds will be credited back to the original payment source (UPI, Debit/Credit Card, or Net Banking). We do not force refunds into proprietary "wallets" for statutory defaults.
- 7. Grievance Redressal (Mandatory under Indian Law)If you have a dispute regarding a refund or cancellation, please contact our designated Grievance Officer. We acknowledge all complaints within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within one month.
